Campus Life

Return
Kicking off Fall 2017

It has been an exceptionally busy start to the beginning of this school year. Not only was the annual Week of Welcome shaken up a bit to involve more departments on campus, but we launched a new tagline, saw a once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse, and are ramping up to celebrate the College's 50th anniversary.

Run Boldly

Since day one, Roadrunners have Run Boldly at Dalton State. Now everyone will know, as the phrase is the new official tagline for the College.

We asked faculty, staff, and students to tell us what else they do boldly as Roadrunners. The varied answers are a testament to the diverse population. From live, to study, to lead, to eat, everyone can find something they do boldly.

Solar Eclipse

More than 500 students gathered on the quad to share in viewing the rare solar eclipse. Campus saw a 99.3 percent covering. The sky grew dark, the cicadas began to chirp, and plants began to wither as they do at dusk. Many classes were canceled to allow students the opportunity to experience science first hand.

Week of Welcome

The annual Week of Welcome, sponsored by the Campus Activities Board, aimed to pull in people from all over campus, including different departments and offices.

Annual favorites such as Doughnuts with the Deans and Day for Dalton returned, but many items were added, including chances to get to know more about Disability Services and Campus Recreation.

50th Anniversary

The College first opened its doors for classes in 1967. To celebrate, cupcakes were offered during the Week of Welcome, and a large arial "50" photo was taken on the quad. Plans continue to develop for a celebration on Sept. 25. Stay tuned for more information about the 50th festivities.
